SWR-392 - Social Work & Human Sexuality

Semester Credits: 3 Weeks: 8

This course is a survey of issues and attitudes associated with human sexuality. It introduces common sex-related issues as well as the particular sexual needs and expressions of various sexually oppressed groups such as the aged, persons with disabilities, gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender individuals, and rape and incest survivors. Using a biopsychosocial perspective, emphasis will be placed on the social, cultural, familial, and individual differences in sexual and reproductive attitudes, values, and behavior. Students will explore their own values and attitudes toward sex and sexuality. Laws and policies that impact sex and sexuality will also be discussed.
