SWR-470 - Social Work Research Methods

Semester Credits: 3 Weeks: 8

This course prepares students with basic knowledge of social work research methods. Students will learn the processes of quantitative and qualitative social work research and understand the relevance of scholarly inquiry to advancing the professional knowledge base and improving social work practice. Attention to issues of race/ethnicity, gender, sexuality, age, and class are integrated throughout all stages of the research process. Ethical issues in research will be discussed. This course is not intended to prepare students to conduct independent research. It focuses on teaching students to be critical consumers of social work research, evaluators of their work, and active participants in empirical inquiries.
