PSY-8340 - Death and Dying

Semester Credits: 3 Weeks: 8

In this course, students will evaluate the psychological aspects of death and dying in modern society. Students will analyze attitudes toward death and evaluate theories related to the stages of death and dying, along with coping strategies for dealing with impending death, suicide and complicated grief. Students will appraise ethical issues related to assisted dying and end-of-life planning and decision capacity. Students will also investigate cultural diversity in death and grief, as well as survivor’s guilt.
